A conversation between
the past and present.

When I first saw this old house, I fell in love with its honesty: the natural materials and handcrafted forms.

Inspired by its authenticity, I sought to create a space that feels equally honest and intuitive. I drew on my background as a designer and architect from Hong Kong, my growing-up years in New York, and my life now in Los Angeles.

The design draws from a tapestry of inspirations that remind me of home: the vibrant colors of Wong Kar-wai’s Days of Being Wild, set in Hong Kong; the austerity of the Ryōan-ji temple garden in Kyoto; and hazy memories of intimate conversations in a basement speakeasy on a rainy night on New York’s Lower East Side.

I hope this space inspires cozy morning coffees, lazy afternoon naps, and late-night conversations. Most of all, I hope it feels like a home away from home for your visit to Los Angeles.
